Invitations, Provocations & Loose Parts
NCTCA Thursday, February 8th, 2018
As educators, we recognize play as the foundation of learning invitations. Provocations and Loose Parts are popular strategies that are being used in Reggio Emilia Inspired Classrooms to help promote exploration and discovery. In this session, we looked at how we use these terms and offered ideas to support these strategies in the classroom as we explored elements and principals of their design. Participants had time to set up and explore provocations. Lots of ideas were shared. This session was so much fun!
A Day in the Life of a Happy Creek Kindergartener!
NCTCA Friday, February 9th, 2018
In this session, we walked participants through a day in the life of our junior and senior kindergarten students. We talked about where we are with our scheduling and revealed our best practices with programming. We enjoyed the heart to heart discussions we had with all of you about developmentally appropriate practices with the little ones. Thanks for sharing and participating everyone!

Sally Haughey with Take One 2017 Toolkit
As teachers we are constantly setting goals for ourselves. Sally Haughey talks about her Take One 2017 Toolkit in this video which is available free on her website. It’s a process she’s used which has helped her to transform her teaching practice year after year. We feel it is a worthwhile practice to look at your teaching with an observational eye. This video and toolkit may assist you with your yearly professional growth plans.
